A lot is going to be happening in the gifted room! First of all, let me say how excited i am to announce that we will once again have Punkin’ Chunkin’ at MES!! My darling husband, David Huss, is building another trebuchet, which promises to be bigger and better thanthe last one! So, with that being said ... SAVE YOUR PUMPKINS! Each student will need a small to medium sized pumpkin, watermelon, gourd, or other chunk-able piece of produce to bring to school the first week of December. These items keep quite nicely if uncarved.
We will begin this unit with mini-catapults in the classroom. Students will learn to write a hypothesis, and gather data based on their trials. To complete this part of the lesson I am asking for donations of small individually wrapped candies of various sizes and weights. These CAN be leftovers from Halloween! |
