Don't worry, parents! The beautiful work is on display in the hallway for all to see! It will be yours soon!
Students created detailed mosaics using base-ten models. After determining the number of tiles they used, students completed tasks using multiplication, division, and powers of ten. The math was wonderful and the mosaics were beautiful! So proud of all of my 5th grade mighty math minds! Don't worry, parents! The beautiful work is on display in the hallway for all to see! It will be yours soon!

Have to brag for a minute on the amazing lunch we had today at MES! Way to go, cafeteria crew! We were all proud farmers today at MES!
My awesome second grade group is Off to See Georgia! We've been learning all about Georgia regions and rivers. Students are researching to create their own tabbed booklets to organize information. What a great day! SS2G1 The student will locate major topographical features of Georgia and will describe how these features define Georgia's surface.
a. Locate all the geographic regions of Georgia: Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plain, Valley and Ridge, and Appalachian Plateau. b. Locate the major rivers: Ocmulgee, Oconee, Altamaha, Savannah, St. Mary's, Chattahoochee, and Flint. Learning! Students in first grade are reading the book Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. We are learning about benefits and problems, and how some things can be both. Today we went outside and observed clouds. We also talked about how clouds can help predict weather. Students are coming how a The Cloud Book by Tomie de Paola. Look out for BIG words like altostratus and stratocumulus!
5th grade math has been working on in-depth exploration of scientific notations (exponents) and how multiplication applies to life. Here you see students working on developing proposals for imaginary field trips, plans for Mancala games, and student created scientific notation quizzes!
After careful consideration, I have decided to return to my previous position as the Gifted Coordinator. I believe this is in the best interest of our students at MES, and that it is the best place for me professionally. TNT is going to be a dynamite program! I am looking forward to seeing all of the amazing skills the kiddos learn. As for the Gifted identified kids ... There are those that need to be pushed. I want to push them to be who I know they can be. There are those that are comedians. I want their humor more than once a week. There are those whose style is uniquely their own. I appreciate their sense of fashion. There are those who are shy. I know their strengths and what lights them up. There are those that struggle. I know and admire their weakness. There are those that are quiet. I love when they are loud. I am simply not ready to let this go. With all this said, know that I love your children when they are away from you. I apologize for the disturbance this may have caused.. I also want to thank Mr. Canupp and Mrs. Burwell for giving me the opportunity, and for understanding my request.
Elanor Roosevelt once said, "To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.” This decision is made from my heart. Gifted is where I am meant to be. I'm on fire for the future. Please, please feel free to email me at any time. [email protected]s |
