Way to go, First Grade!
It is simply SHOCKING how much you know!

First grade has just wrapped up an exciting integrated reading unit! We learned about electricity from atoms to static! Several non-fiction books were read as well as biographies of Benjamin Franklin. Culminating tasks included hands on work with snap-circuit kits to experiment with electricity and these awesome kites! I am so proud of all of their hard work. Way to go, First Grade! It is simply SHOCKING how much you know!

The school Engineering Fair is March 6, 2014. The snow days have created quite a hurdle for us, and the pressure is on! Check out the post from January 15 to see our countdown timer. As of today, we have roughly 15 days until the fair! That includes weekends! Please, please, please encourage your child to work diligently at home and at school.
Each student participating in Engineering Fair has a log book and a sign off sheet. I encourage you to check in with your child to see his/her progress daily. Documents from the log book that will need to be typed are listed on page 18 of the log book. These MAY be typed from home. Students are only with me for 50 minutes each day. While we do use our time wisely, some work will have to be completed at home. Feel free to call or email me with any questions! Feeling stressed? Remember that General George Patton once said, “Pressure makes diamonds.” And I know that our students will shine! Still need a tri-fold board? For your convenience, boards are available at the MES School Store in the Media Center. Color choices are: blue, red, yellow, green, black and white. White boards sell will be $3. ALL other colors are $3.25. If the MES School store does not have the color your child prefers, Hobby Lobby carries a wide variety of colors OR white boards are easy to paint. The school store is open daily during lunch hours. Google has announced its 2014 Doodle 4 Google competition! This is a great way to show your creativity. One lucky winner will win BIG.
